January 6, 2021: A Day of Thuggery, Sacrilege, and Infamy

What happened on January 6, 2021 was neither patriotic, peaceful, nor a protest. It was an act of treachery and sacrilege. The thugs (not patriots at all) who stormed the US Capitol, a temple of democracy, need to be dealt with harshly.

Patriots don't parade symbols of a country that bore arms against the United States of America, cause significant damage to a symbol of democracy, or treat a symbol of democracy as a toilet.

They are a disgrace to the United States of America. Our allies are shocked and our adversaries are mocking us.

Any elected official who downplays or justifies this attack is no longer fit to serve and should be removed through the appropriate legal mechanisms.

As for any current/former military/law enforcement who actively or passively aided and abetted the violence, they should be stripped of their positions in disgrace.

And, most importantly, those who attacked the US Capitol and their backers need substantial criminal prosecution, including lengthy prison sentences.
