Happy Independence Day! Today, the United States of America turns 243.

However, it was not easy...the signers of the Declaration of Independence took a calculated risk in deciding to sign below.

Surprisingly, General George Washington did not sign. He was defending New York City. He read the Declaration to his troops on July 9.
